About me and my therapy practice
My name is Kirsty Ward and in the summer of 2023 I moved with my family to Cornwall to begin a new adventure; setting up my practice in tranquil, rural surroundings.
I am qualified with a post-graduate diploma in integrative child and adolescent counselling. Since qualifying I have been working as a sessional counsellor with various local mental health charities and grown my experience while learning about the difficulties our community faces.
Practice description
I offer a place where everyone is welcomed and accepted. My work is based upon building a trusting relationship through conversation, nature, play and creativity. I am non directive so conversation is without unspoken motives or goals from me. Creative activities, such as art, clay and sand tray work are offered but not imposed. I also have toys and games for those who want to engage in play.
My therapy room is nestled on the edge of my private field. For those that prefer to be outdoors, I offer walking and talking along the paths around the field, and a private space to take in some fresh air. In the summer I put up a bell tent which I offer as an alternative space for counselling for those that prefer a closer connection to nature.
My first session
I offer the first session free of charge. This is an opportunity for the client to meet with me and see where and how I work. As the relationship is the key to counselling, the first session allows the client to consider if we could be a good fit working together.
