About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I’m Azeema.
Life can be tough sometimes, and it can make us feel that we don’t have the right support or tools to deal with difficult situations. If you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed and need a safe space to talk about personal, sensitive issues, we can do this together. It could be you’re struggling with anxiety, feeling sad, depressed, having problems in relationships, dealing with past hurts, going through big changes, or finding it difficult opening up about yourself. I understand that reaching out for therapy can feel like a big step, but you don’t have to face your problems alone, getting therapy can help. I’m here to offer a safe, understanding, non-judgemental and private space to share your thoughts and feelings. Together, we can talk about the past and what’s going on now, so you feel heard, valued and supported. Whether you have a specific problem, want to understand yourself better, or just need someone to talk to, I’m here to help.
I am a qualified integrative counsellor who can offer you a non-judgmental and inclusive space, open to all cultures, backgrounds and orientations. I am a registered member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (Â鶹Դ´) and hold GMBPsS status with the British Psychological Society (BPS). My experience includes working in private practice and within the NHS, supporting individuals through a range of emotional and mental health challenges.
My approach is rooted in empathy, understanding, and respect. I am passionate about helping people and I bring warmth and compassion to my sessions, ensuring you feel comfortable enough to talk openly and explore whatever is troubling you. I believe that everyone has the potential for healing and growth. Therapy is a collaborative journey, and I am committed to walking alongside you as you navigate your path towards healing, self-discovery, and personal growth.
Practice description
As an integrative counsellor, I believe that no single approach works for everyone. I use a blend of therapeutic models, including across Humanistic, Psychodynamic and Behavioural approaches which means that I am able to use a range of skills to tailor our work together that best suit your needs. Working this way gives me the flexibility to listen and respond to your unique experiences, and to ensure that you feel respected and valued as an individual. At the heart of my practice is a client-centred approach, meaning I work in a non-directive way. You set the pace, and we explore what feels most important to you. I am here to help you gain insight, build resilience, and develop healthier coping strategies. My practice is built on interpersonal connection, respect, equality and inclusivity. My first session
Starting therapy can feel daunting, but my role is to make the process as comfortable and approachable as possible. I offer a free 15-minute introductory chat for you to meet me. During this time, you can ask any questions about how I work, what therapy might look like for you, and whether we’d be a good fit. If you decide to continue, we’ll schedule follow-up sessions to start working towards your goals.
In our first session, I’ll carry out an initial assessment to understand your background, what has brought you to therapy, and what you hope to gain from therapy. You can ask me questions relating to therapy. This session is also a chance for us to get to know each other and see if I’m the right therapist for you.
