About me and my therapy practice

I'm a Qualified Dip. Couns, Level 4  in Therapeutic Counselling, specialising in Person-Centred counselling with experience of working with clients from a wide variety of backgrounds, cultures and ages. Also, I work in an integrative way, which includes Psychodynamic, Humanistic, Mindfulness approaches where needed, and CBT techniques. I have also PG Dip CYP (Open), PG Cert CYP (Open), BSc (Hons) Degree in Sociology, Criminology & Criminal Justice, Level 3 Certificate in Life Coaching , Diploma in Substance Misuse, harm reduction & addictions, Diploma in children’s Playwork.

I believe that sometimes life’s challenges can appear overwhelming and trying to make sense of the way forward is just too difficult to contemplate without support. I work with adult, children, young people and families and my aim is to build up a relationship in which you will feel able to talk about what is happening in your life that you’d like to change, then for us to explore the reasons why this is occurring. We can be creatures of habit and feel comfortable with our patterns of how we communicate with each other or how we deal with things, however, it’s the patterns of communication that need to shift to allow for more positive outcomes.

Practice description

I embrace, young people and adults who you can share your own experiences and offer support in a safe setting where you feel comfortable talking without fear of judgment. I will help you to explore your own issues, feelings, beliefs, behaviours, and worldview. Listening to your thoughts and opinions without being critical which helps you to find solutions to any problems which you may face. These experiences may be from early childhood, family, friends, social media, educational settings, exams, employment settings, bereavement, abuse, trauma, substance misuse, past relationships or recent events. This could be to find a solution to a problem, brief interventions or just to give you the space to be heard and not to feel sad, alone and helpless.

My aim is to help you reach your goals and full potential, primarily focusing on your strengths, by accepting and valuing you as a whole person. Together, we will take a journey of self-discovery and increased self-awareness, acceptance, and change which will eventually lead you to discovering your own abilities and autonomy, so that you can cope with current and future problems. I empower confidence and hope for individuals to have a voice and the ability to live a full and happy life, as there is a light at the end of the tunnel and a positive way forward.
