About me and my therapy practice

We all have times in our life when we may feel overwhelmed or are faced with things that are difficult to think about on our own; Yet talking to people close to us may also feel difficult. I offer a compassionate, non-judgemental and friendly space where we will explore whatever difficulty you may bring in order to develop personal growth through a deeper understanding, acceptance, and change.

I respect that everyone is uniquely different and do not believe that one way of working suits us all. As an integrative therapist l draw from a variety of theories and methods in order to meet your needs in a way that suits you. Everyone has a right to healing and living the way they choose – and that includes you too.

I know first-hand that taking that first step to access support can feel daunting, but seeking support for your emotional wellbeing is just as important as maintaining your physical health and will bring you closer to contentment and overall wellbeing.

Therapy may help in a wide range of scenarios ranging from feeling like you have lost your focus or direction in life, to more intense feelings such as anxiety, depression or overwhelm. You may have experienced abuse, a traumatic experience, relationship difficulties (with family, a partner, or other areas of your life), or you may be in a life transition such as entering adulthood, parenthood or retirement. Whatever the cause, or impact on your life, therapy can help you navigate the right path for your future.

I offer face to face therapy sessions from a welcoming and comfortable space in North Leeds and Ilkley. I also work nationally on-line.

Do get in touch for a free 20 minute introductory session via phone or videocall to find out more about how l may work with you and for you to ask any questions you may have.

Practice description

The relationship between us is important for the effectiveness of our work, and we will work in a way that respects your uniqueness. I will ensure that l understand your experience from your perspective. As an integrative practitioner l will then draw from various theories and approaches to work with you in an a way that is individualised to you. Nurturing, growth, and compassion are present throughout my work because l believe they are fundamental for hope and future fulfilment.

The focus of our work will vary depending on whether that is to improve your mental health through long-term work and understanding, or short-term work with clearly defined personal goals.

I have a Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy and have undergone additional training in Compassion Focused Therapy and Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction.

I also have experience in antenatal, postnatal and parenting difficulties including infertility, birth trauma and baby loss and am an accredited practitioner with the Foundation for Infant Loss and have undergone additional training in birth trauma. Becoming a new parent can trigger a whole range of emotions including low mood, anxiety, overwhelm and an absence of connection to your baby. I work with either parent to help nurture insight and self-compassion as to how and why you may feel as you do.

I also understand how at times it can be difficult to fit into a typical world and have lived experience of ADHD and Autism. I have 30 years of experience in therapeutic work within the NHS and l am a domestic abuse ambassador for a large NHS Trust.

'We cannot change our past but often, gaining insight and compassion for ourselves, offers alternatives for the future.'

Do get in touch for a free 20 minute introductory session via phone or videocall to find out more about how l may work with you and for you to ask any questions you may have.
