About me and my therapy practice
Hello, thank you for exploring my profile. I’m Claire, a qualified humanistic counsellor offering a supportive and compassionate space to explore your situation, work through emotional difficulties and discover more fulfilling ways forward that work for you.
I am an approachable, warm counsellor and bring my full attention, curiosity and experience. I offer a reflective space without judgement for you to talk about your concerns, helping you to explore what’s bothering you. It is easier to make sense of feelings, experiences and challenges in this type of impartial, calm and warm atmosphere. You know yourself better than I do so my role is to help you see your situation more clearly, achieve greater self-understanding and acceptance, and identify the range of choices you can make. I value working together to find helpful ways to understand and overcome the things that are troubling you.
I use an integrative humanistic approach drawing on Person-Centred, Gestalt and Transactional Analysis theories and techniques. I work to connect with all parts of you understanding the link between our thoughts, feelings and bodies, our present and our past. Counselling is not about giving direct advice or opinions, but I aim to offer you my reflections and where relevant gently challenge you. I adjust my approach to meet your needs as we are all unique so I hope to support you to uncover ways forward that will work best for you.
I have a Level 6 Clinical Diploma in Humanistic Counselling from Metanoia Institute and a BSc in Psychology from Exeter University. I am a registered member of the Â鶹Դ´ and abide by their code of ethics. I am also certified to conduct online and telephone counselling. I have worked in charitable settings as well as in private practice. My work is also fully insured and professionally supervised.
Practice description
I provide long- and short-term counselling either in person, online or by phone.
Each session is 50 minutes. Sessions are usually on a weekly basis.
I work with adults on a one-to-one basis (18 years and over).
I practice from The Practice Rooms in Twickenham TW2 and Richmond TW9 or online.
Please get in touch so that we can talk further in a free phone consultation about how I can support you.
My first session
Before we book a first session, I offer a free initial phone consultation. This will allow us to discuss the reasons you are thinking of coming to therapy, give you a feel for what counselling with me would be like and allow you to ask any questions you have. We also discuss practicalities such as availability and fees. This will give you an opportunity to see if you’d like to take things further.
In our first session we will explore what you would like to focus on in therapy and any goals you have. I may also ask questions about your current situation, your personal history and important relationships.
