About me and my therapy practice

Hello, I'm Val

Thank you for taking the time to read through and a very warm welcome to my profile.

It is such a brave step to reach out and ask for help and I would like to be your helping hand if you would like this too. We all need a helping hand from time to time. I cannot promise to fix things, but I can listen and give you a warm, therapeutic, non-judgemental space where you can hear yourself, and this can be surprisingly powerful in those times where it may feel like your brain is not your friend.

Practice description

I am person-centred at heart, in that I feel you know what you have tried and tested, however I am also integrative. This gives flexibility to our sessions and I can draw on different modalities if this feels beneficial to our therapeutic work together.

I have counselled Adults and Young People, through Childline, School Counselling, New Hope and my Private Practice, The Therapeutic Camper. I hold an enhanced DBS for Child & Adult Workforce, Counsellor and Psychotherapist, alongside my Â鶹ԭ´´ registration and regularly completed CPD.

I counsel Adults and Young People aged 11 or over, and my speciality is neurodivergence, especially autism due to my own lived experience.

I have a limited number of spaces for counselling students offering reduced rates so please do contact me if you would like to find out more about this.

I also sit on the Â鶹ԭ´´ Steering Group for Good Practice and help review the Â鶹ԭ´´ Good Practice in Action guides.

Therapy is all about you. As carers/parents, it can feel so hard to know which way to turn or who to choose for your child/young person's therapist. I can share my Secondary School and Childline written references with you.

Whilst young people need support and we are used to putting them first, I am also wondering as their trusted person, their parent, what support are you receiving? Maybe your young person is receiving support and you are feeling overwhelmed, juggling life. Having a safe space to share how you feel, without judgement can be so valuable and having that space for yourself, can also support your young person.

You may be an autistic or neurodivergent adult, seeking support at this point in your life, and having someone who is independent and non-judgemental can give you the space you need for this, so you can bring all parts of yourself and they can be nurtured within our therapeutic space.

My first session

You can email (office@therapeuticcamper.com), telephone or text/Whatsapp me (07394 984083). You are welcome to book a session, or we can organise a free, no obligation, initial 15 minute telephone call where you can let me know a summary, and if you feel you would like to work with me.

I have a registered therapy dog who can be included in our in-person sessions if this is something which you may like, so please just let me know.

As we are all unique, I can provide counselling in-person in Wolston, in my own counselling bespoke Pod, a glamping pod purchased especially for in-person counselling / therapy sessions, walk and talk, or online via telephone, email or video. I like having the flexibility so you can go with what works for you and we can change it, for example from telephone to in-person, if it feels right for you. Therapy is all about you.

I am commutable by bus (No.86) from Coventry and Rugby, and by car from the wider Warwickshire, Leamington Spa, Warwick, Southam, Kenilworth, Bedworth, Nuneaton and surrounding villages. Sometimes having a commute can give you a little head space to process your session, before heading into life again.

Fees:

In-person, walk and talk, teams, telephone - £55.00

Email - £45.00

Concession for Counselling Students only - £30.00
