About me and my therapy practice
I am an integrative counsellor, which means that I use a range of approaches, depending on what might work for you. This could include exploring the immediate pressures you face, looking at how previous experiences are affecting you now, or focusing on ways to live a more meaningful and fulfilling life.
You might be coming to counselling for many different reasons – including because you’re feeling anxious, depressed or lonely, because you’re facing life changes, or because you’re struggling to deal with something in your past.
Whatever you’re going through, we can look at how you handle difficult situations and relationships, patterns of thoughts, feelings and behaviour, and what might help.
As well as being a qualified counsellor, I have worked for mental health organisations for almost 10 years, including YoungMinds and the National Academy for Social Prescribing. I have also volunteered for Samaritans for many years.
Many of us find it hard to talk about how we’re feeling deep down, and above all I hope to provide a place where you can do this, in confidence and without being judged.
My first session
If you would like to find out more, I offer a free 20-minute phone call to start with. We can use this to talk about why you are looking for counselling, how we could work together and practical things like confidentiality. It’s a chance for you to get a sense of how I work as a counsellor and whether we are a good fit.
After that, if we agree to go ahead, I would typically offer an initial six sessions, at the end of which we can discuss next steps. In the first session, we would explore in more detail what you are going through and any preferences you have for the approach we take.
Sessions last 50 minutes and usually take place at the same time every week.
