About me and my therapy practice

First of all, welcome! I'm Louise, a qualified counsellor (Registered Member of the Â鶹ԭ´´) and NLP Practitioner and I'm passionate about empowering individuals to live their best lives.

Whether you're seeking support for navigating life transitions, managing stress and anxiety, or exploring deeper questions of meaning and purpose, I am here to guide you on your journey.

Every person I meet is unique and therefore there is not one specific therapy that suits all. As an integrative counsellor, I use a range of therapeutic approaches to provide personalised support to meet your individual needs, goals, and preferred ways of learning and growing.

My integrative approach means blends techniques from  various counselling modalities, including: person-centred therapy, cognitive-behavioural therapy, transactional analysis and Neuro Linguistic Programming.

I also offer the opportunity to work creatively in our sessions, should it feel appropriate for you to do so. Working creatively can provide your mind with the freedom to roam and realise a deeper sense of self-awareness and understanding, sometimes finding a new perspective along the way. Activities such as doodling, modelling with Playdoh, using natural objects or imagery to share your story or nesting dolls to explore your self to mention a few. If this is something of interest do let me know on our initial call.

The following is a list of some (not all!) of the issues that my clients attend therapy sessions to work through: anxiety and panic attacks, anger, depression, grief, bereavement, divorce, separation, phobias or fears, redundancy, bullying, relationship difficulties, infertility, empty-nest syndrome, chronic pain, co-dependency, communication, confidence, feeling 'stuck', loneliness, low self-esteem, menopause, OCD, self-harm, sexuality, sexual abuse, sleep issues, social anxiety, stress, suicidal thoughts and feelings and trauma.

Practice description

I will provide you with a safe and non-judgemental environment where you can explore your thoughts and feelings. I'll help you to make sense of your personal experiences, which may provide you with new perspectives on your past and the way you view your future. Together we will find new ways to manage or change the difficult situations you are facing.

I offer a warm, compassionate understanding and a confidential space, where together we can make sense of how you feel.

Counselling can be short or long term, focusing on a specific issue such or addressing wider life challenges.

At an initial, no obligation, telephone consultation we can discuss how I can best support you and how we will work together.

I offer appointments online or, face-to-face in Marlborough, Wiltshire or Newbury, Berkshire.

My first session

When you make contact, we will organise a no-cost telephone call so that I can understand the challenges you are seeking support for. I will also explain how I work as a therapist to ensure that this meets your needs and answer any questions you may have.

This call enables you to get a sense of whether I'm the right therapist for you and means you can make an informed choice as to whether you'd like to book an appointment or not.

At a first therapy session we will agree how we will work together in our sessions. I’ll invite you to share more about your personal experiences and any goals you may like to achieve as a result of working together. And as and when you feel ready to, we'll begin exploring your thoughts and feelings to start that journey..

We will have regular reviews to ensure that you have no concerns with regards to the pace of the sessions and the progress being made. This enables us to maintain a flexible way of working together to ensure my support continues to work for you and to discuss any matters that you feel might be relevant regarding your progress.

Please do get in touch and provide a little information about what you are looking for support with and I'll get back to you as soon as possible.
