About me and my therapy practice
I offer a safe, calm, and welcoming environment where you can feel comfortable to talk about anything you want. My approach is grounded in the belief we are a product of both our experiences and our biology and in understanding how these impact us we can live more fulfilling lives. Having an MA in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy I use a variety of evidence based approaches rooted in CBT, humanistic, and psychodynamic therapies which means I tailor my approach to your individual needs. You have the ability to change, heal, and enjoy life more, and by working together we can unlock your potential.
Practice description
I am a trauma informed practitioner with experience of both a general practice and a service specifically for victim-survivors of sexual abuse.
You are the expert in who you are, and by putting you in the centre of the work we can explore your experiences at a pace you are comfortable with. At times I offer insights, connections with other events in your life, and relevant pieces of psychological theory and research. All of this is in service of your needs and helping you understand yourself better. At times you may disagree with something I say, and that’s absolutely fine. You are your own expert and I respect that. We walk this path together and while I may be your guide, you are the one who walks the path.
My first session
Choosing the right therapist is an important decision. I offer a free 15-minute consultation, conducted via phone or video conferencing, to discuss your needs and determine if we are a good fit for working together. This initial conversation provides an opportunity to explore your goals for therapy and how I can support you on your journey.
The first session will mostly be us getting to know one another, agreeing on a way of working together, and discussing your needs and psychotherapy in general. It’s typically a gentler session where you can start the process of unburdening yourself before the more in depth work begins.
