About me and my therapy practice
Do you feel like you’re always holding everything together for everyone else—anticipating the next crisis, juggling responsibilities, and never getting a moment to breathe? Chronic anxiety and overwhelm might leave you exhausted, yet you keep pushing forward, unsure how to step off the treadmill.
You’re probably the one others rely on—compassionate, dependable, the one who "has it all together." But when it comes to yourself, self-criticism takes over. No matter how much you do, it never quite feels like enough. You might find yourself putting everyone else first, struggling to know what you want, who you are. Saying no feels uncomfortable. Setting boundaries feels impossible. Guilt, conflict, and people-pleasing have become the background noise of your life.
You don’t have to keep running on empty. I help people like you—those who’ve spent years prioritising others and putting yourself on the back burner—finally create space for themselves. In our work together, we can explore what’s been holding you back, untangle patterns of anxiety and overwhelm, and help you reconnect with your own needs. Counselling is your time to reflect, to breathe, and to rediscover who you are beyond who you are for everyone else.
You don’t have to keep carrying this alone. Let’s work together to help you step into a life that feels lighter, freer, and more like you.
Who I am
I’m Amy and I grew up as a self-professed ‘fixer’. I became an expert in keeping things running smoothly and highly practiced at putting myself last. The irony was not lost on me that I found myself in project and managerial roles for 15 years – holding things together for others – before I became a counsellor. So I absolutely understand the challenges of balancing a busy life and your own emotional wellbeing- I’ve felt the pain of chronic anxiety and emotional exhaustion.
Practice description
Imagine having the space to:
- Manage chronic anxiety and overwhelm – Break free from cycles of overthinking, catastrophizing, and constant worry.
- Protect your energy and time – Learn to say ‘no’ without guilt and prioritise yourself while navigating relationships with confidence.
- Reframe your self-perception – Shift the focus from what you do for others to your inherent worth and strengths. Redefine success in a way that nurtures, rather than drains, you.
- Let go of emotions you’ve held onto for years – Release frustration, guilt, and sadness in a space where you can process them freely and lighten the load.
- Reconnect with who you are – Beyond caregiving and responsibility, rediscover your desires, interests, and values.
- Break free from people-pleasing and perfectionism – Explore what’s been holding you back and find a sense of freedom.
Counselling can be that space. A safe, judgment-free environment where you can reflect, process, and make sense of what’s happening. It’s more than just being listened to—it’s a collaborative process where we explore your experiences together.
I offer sessions in a peaceful, cosy room in Rayleigh, Essex, or online for those who prefer the comfort and convenience of home. I also offer telephone counselling.
Reaching out can feel daunting, so let’s start in a way that feels right for you—whether that’s an email, a WhatsApp message, or a free 15-minute chat to answer any questions.
