About me and my therapy practice
I'm Emily, an integrative therapist and bereavement counsellor based in London. I am here to help you cultivate your relationship with yourself and develop inner resources that will support you to lead a meaningful and fulfilling life. Together, we can delve into the ways you exist in and relate to the world around you.
I work 1-1 with adults experiencing common mental-health problems including; anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, relational issues, grief and loss.
I offer a compassionate and welcoming space where you can feel seen, heard and accepted as yourself. Together, we can explore the reasons that brought you to therapy and begin to unpack your current and historical thought processes and behavioural patterns. I am here to help you get to know yourself and explore the ways in which you exist in the world. Counselling is not about giving you solutions or advice, instead the aim is to empower you to make your own choices and changes.
I truly believe that a safe therapeutic relationship can be a catalyst for healing and that the power of human connection should never be underestimated. Therapy is not just for individuals who are struggling, but for those who want to improve their general wellbeing and lead a meaningful and fulfilling life. Therapy gives you the opportunity to cultivate your relationship with yourself and develop inner resources that will help you feel better equipped to navigate life.
Practice description
I integrate different modalities and theory into my practice including:
Attachment Theory - this explores how people form emotional bonds, especially with their primary caregivers during infancy and how this can influence their relationships as adults.
Polyvagal Theory - this looks at how the nervous system influences emotion regulation, social connection and fear responses.
Existential Psychotherapy - this uses philosophical ideas to help people understand their place in the world. It focuses on the human condition and the choices people make about how they live their lives.
My practice is LGBTQIA+ and neurodivergent affirmative and I welcome clients from all backgrounds.
I have a particular interest in working with loss, death and grief. I welcome adults of all ages.
If you would like to talk, please get in touch via email and we can set up an introductory call. I look forward to hearing from you.
My first session
Initial Consultation/Assessment - I offer an extended first session at a reduced fee of £50. This enables us to ease into working together and gives you the opportunity to decide if I am the right therapist for you. The assessment fee is the same for standard and low-cost sessions.
