About me and my therapy practice
I began my career as a physiotherapist and as such, I have a particular interest in the overlap between the physical and the psychological when it comes to chronic pain. I have also worked closely with those experiencing distress at the physical and psychological changes that come with pregnancy, childbirth and menopause. I have also worked in corporate settings managing medical concerns of those in high pressure environments.
I am able to work with most difficulties that you might be facing but before we begin our work together, a short telephone consultation (10-15 minutes) to gauge a rough idea of your presenting problems is essential, as an alternative practitioner or referral may be necessary either instead of, or alongside our work.
I work within the ethical framework outlined by the Â鶹Դ´ which can be found on their website where I am a registered member (410346).
Practice description
It’s often daunting to ask for help when feeling stuck. Having a dedicated space and time each week to gain insight, increase your understanding and make meaning out of your experiences can be transformative and help equip you with the psychological tools to move forward.
I work psychodynamically which means I am interested in your childhood experiences and how they may have shaped your present-day life, how you defend yourself psychologically and how those defences were created. I am also interested in how we relate to one another in the room as this can often provide invaluable insight into how you relate to others outside the room. Examining the relationship we build during the work, in a judgement free environment, is part of what makes the therapy relationship unique and informative.
Each session lasts 50 minutes and generally takes place at the same time each week. I am able to work in both short-term formats (12 sessions), or longer term/open ended work.
Spaces available for online work and for in-person work in Chesham (Greater London - HP5)
