About me and my therapy practice

I remember when I first reached out for counselling help, it was one of the scariest things I had to do. Therefore, if you are feeling a little (or a lot) daunted or worried about the next step, I am here to tell you that it is totally understandable, and you are not alone! I can be here to help and guide you through your choices at your own pace.

My name is Sarah (she/her), and I live in one of the pretty villages outside of Canterbury (UK). From here I offer counselling sessions either face-to-face or online/remote via Zoom. This is also the base from where I begin and end walk and talk sessions in the warmer months. I like to think my therapy environment offers peace and calmness (even if the counselling is online!)

I think of all the things I would want in my counsellor and I try to mirror these with my clients. I aim to be curious, kind, honest, warm and most importantly, I want you to feel you have a real human being supporting you by your side.

I want to dispel the myth that counsellors are perfect people that have everything together in life. -We don't! So why do I point this out to you? Because when you are feeling low, worried, anxious or vulnerable, you want support from a human being who can relate to how you are feeling. I get that, and I can genuinely say to you, without judgement: "It's OK that you don't feel OK, and I am here to listen to all you have to tell me, no matter how bad you think it is."

Of course, I am qualified to support you, and of course I am registered to work in a professional, ethical and safe way. However, I feel that I offer a very down to earth approach to counselling. I do this because when your mental health isn't where you would like it to be, it is scary to reach out to a stranger when you need support.I have had experience of working with adult clients with a range of mental health issues, as well as being a listener at a national charity for perinatal mental health issues such as post-natal depression.

Practice description

Counselling usually takes place once a week. However, I can offer fortnightly sessions if appropriate, and our work together will be open-ended, meaning that you are not limited to a fixed amount of sessions. I also offer flexible booking via an online client portal. This means that if you do not want to reserve the same time and day each week, you can book your own appointment to suit your schedule at your own convenience. As stated above, I offer face-to-face appointments, online/remote counselling sessions and walk and talk therapy. Prices range from £30-£39 for 50 minutes, and I offer options other than just BACS to make payment quick and convenient for you.

F²¹³¦±ð-³Ù´Ç-¹ó²¹³¦±ð: You can come and see me in my premises out in one of the pretty villages just outside of Canterbury. I am proud to offer a cosy and comfortable room which I hope you would feel safe in.

Remote via Zoom or the telephone: I think online counselling can be just as effective and beneficial as face-to-face and in our busy lives, it can be just more convenient! I will be in the same therapy room as if we were face-to-face to guarantee your confidentiality.

Walk & Talk: My counselling room also acts as a base for the beginning and the end of walk and talk therapy in warmer months. Here we will spend 50 minutes walking a planned and risk-assessed route through the pretty and tranquil countryside of Kent. The benefits of walk and talk therapy are widely documented.

So you like what you hear, do you want to take the next step? I get it, you have got to this part and are probably thinking how are you possibly going to share very personal things about yourself to a complete stranger? I offer a free and friendly chat over the phone. From this, I hope you will feel safe and supported, and listened to in a warm and non-judgemental way. You can use this time to see if you think I will be a good fit for you, and if you think you would benefit from counselling from me, with absolutely no obligation to proceed.

My first session

Once we have had an introductory meeting, you can decide if it feels right for you and if you feel comfortable to arrange our first session. This session will be chargeable at the agreed rate, and we will use this session to agree on how we will work together, what expectations we will be agreeing to, and talk about any questions and concerns you have. We will also use the time for me to get to know you better, find out your goals for therapy, and begin to look at the issues that are worrying you.

My normal fee is £39, but I offer concession sessions at £30.
