About me and my therapy practice
Sometimes life can bring challenges that feel overwhelming, and it can feel as though you have nowhere to turn. If you’re experiencing difficulties, I aim to provide a confidential and empathic space where you can freely express yourself and explore your thoughts and feelings without judgement. Counselling will support you to develop a deeper understanding of yourself, your feelings and your relationships with others, allowing the possibility of growth and change.
You may be seeking support for anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, self-esteem issues, a traumatic event, or just feel as though things could be better. Regardless of the issue you may be facing, my goal is to create a compassionate space where you feel empowered to safely explore and heal.
Building a positive and trusting relationship, where you feel valued and understood, is the most important part of our work together. I recognise that each person's experience is unique and that there is no universal approach to counselling, so we will work together to ensure that our sessions meet your specific needs and goals.
If you decide to work with me, you will notice that you are at the centre of your counselling sessions. This means you are the focus, and always will be. You choose what we discuss, what changes you want to make, the pace we work at, and how you would like your future to look.
Practice description
I’m a fully qualified Person-Centred Counsellor and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (Â鶹Դ´), with many years experience in mental health support.
I work with adults and young people (over 11 years old), and offer support in a wide range of issues, including, but not limited to, anxiety, depression, trauma, abuse, suicidal ideation and self-harm, relationship difficulties, addiction, self-esteem and self-image.
My approach is rooted in the principles of person-centred therapy, where you are viewed as the expert in your own life. With my support, we can enable you to find your own solutions and help you to manage life's challenges.
I offer 50-minute face-to-face sessions in my private counselling room in Shiplake, just outside Henley-on-Thames, or online sessions if preferred. Our work together can be short or long-term, although I believe that the counselling journey should be a flexible one, as things change along the way, so we will continue to review our work together at regular intervals.
My first session
I practice from a comfortable and private garden room at my home in Lower Shiplake, just on the outskirts of Henley-on-Thames; easily accessible from Reading, Caversham, Marlow, Maidenhead and surrounding areas. I will provide you with the precise location once our first session has been agreed. Parking is available.
I also offer counselling sessions online and on the telephone, as a flexible alternative from the comfort of your own home.
I offer an initial free 20-minute appointment to give you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have and get a feel for how we could work together. We can look at your reasons for seeking counselling at this time and how it might be helpful for you.
I understand that taking the first step to contact a counsellor can feel daunting, and I hope that I can gently support you through the process towards a more positive future.
