About me and my therapy practice

Hello, my name is Amelia I am a qualified Gestalt therapist with experience working in the NHS. There, I had the privilege of supporting a diverse range of clients of different ages, backgrounds, and ethnicities. This experience has enriched my practice and deepened my understanding of the unique challenges individuals face in their lives.

I now offer private therapy sessions to working professionals, offering both short-term and long-term support tailored to your individual needs. My practice is a confidential, welcoming, and supportive space where you can explore your life's challenges at your own pace.

Clients come to therapy for many reasons. Some clients are managing anxiety, stress, or low self-esteem, while others may be navigating work-related issues, relationship difficulties, breakups, or bereavement. You might feel trapped, uncertain, or disconnected from your life, seeking clarity, purpose, or personal growth.

Whatever brings you to therapy, I aim to create a space where you feel seen, heard, and supported in your journey.

Since everyone is unique, I encourage you to embrace your authenticity with an open mind to new possibilities. Each client is different, and I approach every individual with a personalised approach, tailoring my methods to their specific needs and my trained modality.

Practice description

Gestalt therapy is a holistic and experiential approach to therapy that focuses on the here and now鈥攜our present experience in the moment. It is rooted in the idea that we are interconnected beings, shaped by our relationships, environment, and the patterns we create in our lives.

Key principles of Gestalt therapy include:

鈥 Awareness: Developing a deeper understanding of your emotions, behaviours, and thoughts to foster insight and change.

鈥 The Present Moment: Focusing on the 鈥渉ere and now鈥 rather than dwelling on the past or worrying about the future.

鈥 Responsibility: Encouraging you to take ownership of your choices and experiences, empowering you to create change.

鈥 Integration: Bringing together the emotional, physical, and mental aspects of your experience to create a sense of wholeness.

鈥 Relational Approach: Emphasizing the therapeutic relationship as a space to explore and heal relational dynamics.

In our work together, we will explore your current experiences, uncover patterns that may no longer serve you, and develop new ways of relating to yourself and others. I incorporate creative modalities such as art therapy, music, and sound healing, along with meaningful personal objects if clients choose to bring an item that holds significance for them to work with.

My first session

I offer a complimentary 30-minute initial consultation, during which we will conduct a brief assessment to understand your needs and goals. 

This may be your first time speaking with someone entirely independent, and my goal is to help you feel comfortable and gain a clear understanding of how therapy can support you.

Our first session is an opportunity for us to explore the reasons you鈥檝e come to therapy, your hopes and expectations, and any concerns or questions you might have. We will also discuss how we might work together and what a Gestalt approach can offer you.

If we decide to continue, we will arrange a regular weekly session鈥攜our dedicated time to focus on yourself and your growth. Therapy is a collaborative process, and together, we will work to build a trusting and supportive relationship that helps you uncover new possibilities and navigate life with greater awareness and confidence.
