About me and my therapy practice
Hi, my name is Claire, and my passion is helping people to find ‘themselves again’. Midlife transitioning can be uncomfortable. Between the ages of 40-60 we can begin to question who WE are. This can be coupled with changes such as perimenopause and menopause. After many years working, raising a family, inevitable loss and putting others first we can be left feeling disconnected. This commonly shows up as low mood, anxiety and loneliness alongside a general dissatisfaction with life. It can be beneficial to have a non-judgemental ally whilst you navigate your way gently back to self.
I am also passionate about assisting people with emotional eating/binge eating. I have extensive knowledge on this subject and would be happy to work with anyone navigating these feelings.
Please feel free to contact me to talk about how I can help. Our work will be online.
Practice description
We may have been brought up to prioritise others, putting ourselves last may have been viewed as a positive. Realising this can be the catalyst in questioning our life choices. These insights can be positively beneficial in helping us to understand how and why we lost touch with our true selves. Now could be the time to relinquish coping mechanisms which are not serving our wellbeing and bring balance back into our lives.
I have lived experience of these feelings; they are what started me on my own counselling journey leading me to become a counsellor myself. I am here to walk alongside you whilst you begin to understand and embrace your next chapter. We can work through any past trauma enabling growth. Working together we can help you become kinder and more compassionate to yourself. You will have the space and support to explore your feelings candidly without judgement for the next part of your transition. You can learn to embrace the wisdom, self-acceptance and confidence that this stage of your life can offer.
I understand that everyone’s life is unique and as a person-centred counsellor I will treat your story with dignity and respect. I will be compassionate, accepting, empathic and non-directive. This will build a therapeutic relationship which will allow full self-reflection with me beside you in a non-judgemental manner. I will listen to your stories, connecting threads so you can gain a deeper understanding of yourself.
I also have lived experience of emotional eating/binge eating. My dissertation researched self compassion as a tool to assist recovery. I am happy to speak to those who are living with feelings of guilt/shame and 'food noise' to unravel the causes and create a safe and non-judgemental environment for you to explore these feelings. I am happy to work alongside those who are waiting for bariatric surgery or who are using weight loss drugs to explore their relationship with food.
Our work will take place Online.
