Hello, and thank you for taking a look. As you are reading, it may suggest that you have probably already decided to look into an aspect of your life that is troubling you, and are shopping around to see which counsellor piques your interest. So to help with your decision, I'd like to introduce myself, Julie Sharpe. I am a mother to two adult children and my profession is a person-centred counsellor, I currently work with adults, 18 to senior years.

I appreciate that taking the first step toward wellness can often feel daunting, but I want to reassure you that we can navigate the path together. Whenever you’re ready, I am here to support you as my priority.

Abuse, Addictions, Anger Management, Anxiety, Bereavement, Child Related Issues, Cultural Issues, Depression, Eating Disorders, Identity Issues, Infertility, Loss, Men's Issues, Obsessions, OCD, Phobias, Post-Traumatic Stress, Pregnancy Related Issues, Redundancy, Relationships, Conflict, Self Esteem, Self Harm, Confidence, Service veterans, Sex Related Issues, Stress, Trauma, Women's Issues, Work Related Issues, Jealousy, Marriage, Childhood Issues.

Practice description

Grounded in the person-centred approach, I work with care and respect, allowing you to move at your own pace - you are in the driving seat.

You will experience an empathetic understanding of your experiences, while we sit, working together through the process of progress. The absolute trust and safety within the therapeutic relationship will lead you to discover insights, enabling you to move forward, independently, in a more positive way.

I invite you to reach out, beginning your journey toward a fulfilling and balanced mindset. Together, we can explore any stress, anxiety, or unresolved issues you may be facing, ensuring that your well-being takes priority.

I tailor techniques and offer coping strategies to support you through family, social or work-related relationship challenges, right through to personal growth and the relationship you have with yourself.

I offer creative ways of working, for those times when emotions may be difficult to explore verbally, The mediums I often use with clients are; drawing, moulding, the use of emotion and/ or trauma cards, timelines and more - tailored to whatever works for you. We have all experienced times when we just can't find the words, or saying the word is just too painful. In these times, working creatively is a particularly useful way to explore self and the difficulties attached.

Your path is important and I’m committed to helping you develop the skills that we all need to face the twists and turns that life can bring - with confidence, strength and resilience. We can work through your struggles together, building on your self-confidence and realising that you always have options. I will treat you as the expert on yourself, I will not judge you, no matter what you bring to the session.

My first session

Before your first session, I will email you the counselling agreement which will outline the boundaries and terms to keep us both safe. This agreement can be used as a manual. If you have any questions, you can look it up on the easy-to-read - subtitled document. Of course, you can still contact me if you have any further questions you'd like answered.

I will send you a questionnaire, it would be helpful if you could tick the boxes which apply to you ready for our first session together.

Our First session

Is all about gently breaking the ice, getting a sense of each other and starting the process of building trust within our therapeutic relationship. We can discuss your goals, wants and needs. We can gradually look at the questionnaire together, this will show me 'where you are' and give me a strong idea of how best to support your wants and needs moving forward and will help us to tailor techniques and strategies to support you.

Beyond the first session:

Depending on your struggles and preferences, we can work with a range of therapies and strategies to suit you. Sessions are bespoke and you will guide the topic and how far you are ready to go with it. I will suggest treatment types if they may be beneficial in the moment. Remember, you are in the driving seat, so you do not have to try them if you feel uncomfortable or are not ready to. I will sit with you ...at your pace...always.
