About me and my therapy practice
I am a fully qualified counsellor, a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (Â鶹Դ´) and graduate member of the British Psychological Society (BPS). I have been described by my peers as approachable, open-minded and hard-working, while my clients say I’m down-to-earth, honest, and a safe person to talk to. I have experience working with clients from a diverse range of backgrounds covering all age groups, from young adults to older adults. I have also supported people with a wide range of concerns, from childhood trauma through to work related issues. I have a particular interest in bereavement, sexuality and anxiety disorders.
I have a background in counselling psychology and have the following qualifications:
- Master of Science in Counselling Psychology (Distinction)
- Bachelor of Science with Honours in Counselling Psychology (First Class)
- Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling (Achieved)
- Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Studies (Achieved)
- Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills (Achieved)
Practice description
I follow an integrative approach, which means I can draw upon a range of counselling theories and techniques to best meet your needs. This is based on the belief that no single approach will work for all clients and that the most effective counselling is tailored to each person’s individual needs. While my counselling practice is grounded in the person-centred approach, it is often complemented with cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and other modalities when needed. Together, we will find the best approach for you.
In addition to my private practice, I work as a crisis support worker and volunteer counsellor for a local charity, where I provide immediate support to individuals who often feel overlooked or unsupported by other services. I also volunteer with Cruse Bereavement where I provide one-to-one telephone sessions, offering clients a safe and supportive space to explore and process their grief.
My first session
Our first session is a chance for us to get to know each other, explore how we could work together, and for you to consider whether I am the right counsellor for you. This will involve an initial assessment to further understand your reasons for seeking support and what you hope to gain from counselling.
What I can help with
Anxiety, Bereavement, Cultural issues, Depression, Disability, Health related issues, Identity issues, LGBTQ+ counselling, Loss, Men's issues, Neurodiversity, Obsessions, Phobias, Relationships, Self esteem, Sex-related issues, Sexual identity, Sexuality, Trauma
