About me and my therapy practice
Hi I'm Jen, a Gestalt-trained counsellor operating in London and Great Dunmow in Essex. I work as a therapist for my local Mind as well as running a private practice. I have a therapy room in Dunmow and operate out of the Gestalt Centre near Camden/King's Cross, London. I also work online, so I can see clients from pretty much everywhere! I have identified the perfect walk for anyone wanting to get outside in the fresh air for some walking therapy. I offer a free telephone consultation to see if we would like to work together, and my fees are set at £65 per session. Please contact me if you have any questions at all - I very much look forward to meeting you!
Practice description
As a Gestalt therapist our sessions will be centred around what is going on for you in the here and now, and how past experiences have influenced your current situation. I specialise in grief therapy, existential/mid-life crises, depression or general malaise, and stress and anxiety. Once we have established a trusted therapeutic relationship, we might try some experimental methods such as visualisations or using 'the empty chair' to further explore what is happening for you. We might utilise additional tools such as my bag of pebbles or some wellbeing cards to aid the therapy. Our focus will always be on enabling awareness and acceptance - an essential precursor to moving forwards with a renewed sense of verve and confidence. Whatever we decide to do, it will be led by you and what you need for your therapy journey.
My first session
The first session will be a 'getting to know you' session, where I'll ask you to complete some simple forms, we'll establish a brief history and chat about what you want out of therapy. It'll be an opportunity for you to ask me any questions or concerns you may have.
What I can help with
Anxiety, Bereavement, Chronic fatigue syndrome / ME, Cultural issues, Depression, Disability, Health related issues, Identity issues, LGBTQ+ counselling, Loss, Menopause, Men's issues, Personal development, Self esteem, Service veterans, Sexual identity, Sexuality, Spirituality, Stress, Trauma, Women's issues, Work related issues
