About me and my therapy practice
I am a Person-Centred Counsellor passionate about creating a safe, compassionate space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings without fear of judgment. Whether you’re seeking support for a specific challenge or simply need a place to pause and reflect, I am here to walk alongside you on your journey.
My approach is grounded in empathy and respect, recognising the unique experiences and strengths that each person brings.
I have a deep commitment to supporting carers, understanding the emotional toll that comes with looking after loved ones. Together, we can explore how to prioritize your own well-being while navigating the challenges of caregiving.
Another area close to my heart is working with older adults and their families, particularly those facing the complexities of dementia. I understand how isolating and overwhelming these experiences can feel, and I aim to provide a steady, supportive presence through the ups and downs.
I also work with parents of neurodiverse children, offering understanding and guidance as you navigate the joys and challenges of parenting in a way that honors both your child’s needs and your own.
Over the years, I have developed a special interest in working with LGBTQ+ individuals, honoring the courage it takes to embrace and express your authentic self.
For young adults, I offer a space to explore life’s transitions, pressures, and questions about identity, helping you to find clarity and confidence.
At the core of my practice is a belief in your capacity for growth and resilience. Whatever your story, I am here to help you find your voice, reconnect with your strengths, and move forward with greater self-understanding. If you feel ready to begin this journey together, I’d love to hear from you.
Practice description
The counselling I offer is a ‘talking therapy’ that aims to explore and understand rather than problem-solve and fix. In most cases when new clients come to me, it is because they have one or a number or issues that they would like to explore or change. I offer individual counselling (one-on-one) that usually takes place once a week.
I aim to create a space in which to reflect upon the issues you are experiencing. As a ‘Person-Centred’ counsellor, my role in the therapeutic relationship is that of an equal rather than an expert or teacher. This means is that I will walk alongside you as you delve into the issues that you are facing. I will act as a mirror, shining a light upon things that you say or do.
Most of the work that takes place in the counselling room will be done by you. The counselling process is not always easy but it can be extremely rewarding and can change your life. Many clients hope that their counsellor will tell them what to do or that they will give them a quick fix; I believe that it is not my place to fix problems for you, but I can accompany and support you as you learn to repair yourself.
My first session
Your counselling journey with me will start with a free consultation, which provides an opportunity to meet and discuss what your hopes are for the counselling process. I will also introduce myself and explain how I work. One of the most important elements in a successful therapeutic process is the relationship between the client and counsellor. In this session you will have the opportunity to assess whether you feel we can work well together. There are a range of therapeutic models available and by getting this initial experience of the Person-Centred Approach you can assess whether this is the right way forward for you.
