About me and my therapy practice
About Me & My Therapy Practice
I am a Person-Centred, mindfulness-based, and compassion-focused therapist, offering a warm, collaborative, and exploratory space where clients can feel truly heard and supported. My approach integrates mindfulness, narrative therapy, Gestalt-oriented methods, and somatic-focused techniques to help clients reconnect with themselves, process difficult emotions, and develop self-awareness.
I work with adults aged 18 to 108 and support clients facing a wide range of challenges, including anxiety, depression, grief, bereavement, and loss. I have a special interest in working with individuals with Specific Learning Differences, ADHD, Autism, OCD, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, and Health Anxiety, as well as those navigating current health challenges such as cancer or Alzheimer’s disease.
Therapy with me can be open-ended and exploratory or goal-focused and structured, depending on individual needs. I offer both short-term and long-term therapy, with regular reviews to track progress and ensure that therapy continues to align with your goals.
My background includes 18 years as a therapy radiographer, treating cancer patients, during which I also trained in Mindfulness Meditation and Energy Healing techniques. My passion for understanding the human experience led me to retrain as a counsellor, and I am currently completing a Master’s degree in Psychology to further enrich my practice.
Whether you are seeking support for a specific challenge or a space for deeper personal exploration, I am here to help you navigate your journey with compassion and care.
Practice description
Practice Description
My practice is based in a private, comfortable, and modern space within the beautiful Callendar House Museum in Falkirk, Scotland. The room is bright, warm, and welcoming, providing a safe and supportive environment for therapy. I offer both in-person and online sessions, and my office is wheelchair accessible to ensure inclusivity for all clients.
Our first session is an opportunity to establish a foundation for our work together. We will discuss the essential practicalities of entering a counselling relationship, including accompanying paperwork, while also exploring the concerns that have brought you to therapy. I will invite you to share what you hope to achieve, and together, we will establish a framework that supports your needs.
Therapy with me is a collaborative process, shaped by regular reviews and feedback to ensure that our work continues to align with your evolving needs. My approach is rooted in Unconditional Positive Regard (UPR)—a deep respect for each client’s unique journey. I believe that as humans, we are all continually learning, growing, and developing, and that the courage it takes to enter a counselling relationship is met with the reward of deeper self-understanding and the ability to navigate relationships with greater ease.
Whether you are seeking support for a specific challenge or looking to explore your personal growth, I offer a space where you can feel heard, supported, and empowered on your journey.
My first session
My First Session Details
The first session is a one-hour appointment and is priced at £50, which is the same rate as regular sessions. Prior to our meeting, I will send you a Counselling Working Together Agreement for your review. In our first session, we will discuss this agreement to ensure that you feel comfortable with the framework and structure of our work together.
During the first session, we will focus on establishing a strong foundation for our work, exploring your goals and the challenges you would like to address. I aim to create a conversational and exploratory space, where you are encouraged to share your experiences and any concerns you would like to discuss. This allows us to begin building the therapeutic relationship, with plenty of space for you to feel heard and understood.
Clients are welcome to prepare for the first session by reflecting on topics they would like to discuss or thinking about goals they would like to explore and work towards. However, if you prefer a more spontaneous approach, that is absolutely fine, too! Our work together will be guided by ongoing reviews and feedback, ensuring that each session remains aligned with your evolving needs and desires.
