About me and my therapy practice

I appreciate that when you are feeling alone or distressed, it can be difficult to find the courage to reach out and ask for help.,  However, having taken the time to look at my profile, I hope I can reassure gyou that you have made a positive decision to start the process of change.  Counselling is a type of talking therapy which offers confidential support in a warm, accepting and non-judgemental way.  Whatever the reason for reaching out at this time, I can offer you an empathic, empowering and encouraging space as we work together to find ways to assist you in moving forward..

Whether you are an individual, or a couple in a relationship,  considering counselling because you are in a crisis in your life and unable to see how to move forward, or feeling lost and alone. Or perhaps it has taken a long time to find the courage to finally seek help for issues which may have stemmed from trauma in your early life.  It could also be that you are looking for more specific tools and strategies to address problems such as anxiety, anger or self- sabotage. Whatever your reasons for seeking help at this time, I am here to help.

I am a fully qualified counsellor and clinical Supervisor,  trained to Master's degree level, with over 20 years experience of working in the field of mental health, in the NHS, Social Services, the Charitable Sector, and in my private practice.

I am a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MÂ鶹ԭ´´), meaning that, as a professional, I adhere to the Â鶹ԭ´´ Ethical Guidelines.  This ensures that I work professionally and safely and I am accountable to my professional body.  I have regular supervision with my clinical supervisor to ensure that I am practicing safely and ethically, and I am committed to keeping my practice up to date by attending ongoing continuing professional training.  I am also fully insured insured and qualified to work with adult clients.

Practice description

I work from my private practice in a confidential space in my home in a village near Axminster, East Devon, which is also accessible from South Somerset and West Dorset.

I offer both short term and long term counselling and I am guided by what you, as the client, decides is right.  My counselling approach is integrative, meaning I have been trained to draw on a range of models and methods to be able to offer the right support for clients.  I am able to work with issues in the "here and now", as well as more deeply, focussing on the unconscious processes in order to help understand how the past may shape the present.

I have experience in supporting clients with adoption (adults), anxiety, depression, stress, self-esteem, relationship issues, loneliness, bereavement and loss, domestic abuse, sexual abuse, addictions, co-dependency,  body image, sexuality and identity issues, trauma, life transitions, such as, divorce, redundancy or retirement, health and disability issues, personal growth and development, to name but a few.

I also provide Clinical Supervision to other counsellors and trainee counsellors - please enquire.

Sessions are £55 for individuals and £75 for couples.

My first session

I offer an initial,  20 minute phone or Zoom consultation, free of charge.  This first brief session allows us to discuss  what brings you to counselling and what you are hoping to acheive from the process, as well asking about the way I work.  We can then decide together if you wish to  commit to ongoing sessions.
