About me and my therapy practice
Sarah Parker, MÂ鶹Դ´ (Accredited) – ACT, EMDR & Compassion-Focused Therapist
I am a highly experienced and accredited psychotherapist specialising in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT). With a warm, person-centred approach, I support individuals in navigating emotional distress, trauma, and a wide range of mental health challenges.
I have a particular passion and expertise in working with eating disorders and disordered eating, drawing on both professional training and lived experience to offer a deeply compassionate and understanding space. Having recovered from 15 years of Anorexia Nervosa, I recognise the complexities of eating difficulties and the shame, anxiety, and internal struggles that so often accompany them. My work is centred on helping individuals break free from rigid patterns, reconnect with their values, and move towards a more fulfilling and peaceful relationship with food and their bodies.
My experience includes working in NHS Specialist Eating Disorder Services and Mental Health Teams, as well as providing therapy to survivors of trauma, anxiety, and depression. Now, through my private practice, Well of Being, I offer tailored therapy and coaching to those seeking meaningful change.
I believe that healing is possible for everyone. My approach is not about fixing or fighting thoughts and emotions but rather learning to relate to them differently—with self-compassion, courage, and a deeper connection to what truly matters.
If you are struggling with your relationship with food, body image, or other emotional challenges, I offer a safe, supportive space to explore and move forward.
Practice description
Therapy with me is tailored entirely to your individual needs and hopes. The frequency and length of sessions, and the duration of therapy is designed around what works best for you.
Whatever your struggle, as we work together, I will gently guide you back to your own wise guide to navigate life’s twists and turns.
Therapy is a bit like me holding up a mirror which reflects back the magic you have inside. When we are struggling, our minds often fix on negative, unhelpful beliefs and we stop connecting to our wise guide.
Coming to therapy can feel daunting. With this in mind, I aim to create a space which feels safe, welcoming, and open. We will begin by getting to know each other a little and exploring your challenges and the hopes you hold for your time in therapy.
Throughout therapy we will review regularly to make sure you continue to have your hopes met and to shine a light on the progress you are making.
As your relationship with your thoughts begins to change and you connect more deeply to your inner guide, you will naturally know when the time is right for you to adapt and adjust your sessions and to think about moving beyond therapy.
Ending therapy can also feel like a challenging process for some. The process of ending therapy will always be guided by your needs and will be an opportunity to share your hopes and aspirations for life beyond our work together. You are at the centre of everything we do.
This process can help any difficulty you might be experiencing, whether that be eating and weight difficulties, depression, anxiety, trauma related difficulties, confidence and self-esteem issues, and the stresses we experience through life.
Nothing is too great to move beyond. As we work together to guide to back to your wise inner guide and past the limitations of your habitual thoughts, you will start to see that the possibilities for joy, peace and contentment are always within you.
My first session
I offer a 20-minute discovery call on zoom, which is free of charge. During the call we can talk about what you hope to get and to achieve from therapy and think about how I can best support you in that.
The discovery call is also an opportunity for you to consider if I'm the best person for you too.
