About me and my therapy practice
I am an experienced integrative counsellor and supervisor. As such, I am trained in a range of different therapeutic approaches, and draw on a number of them in my counselling work. Clients' presenting issues commonly include anxiety, depression, stress and overwhelm, relationship problems, bullying and domestic abuse, low self-esteem, work-related issues, difficulties with decision making and struggles to adjust following big life events or losses. Clients often describe feeling stuck, lost, overloaded, emotionally flooded or numb, or experiencing a lack of meaning and fulfilment in life. Other clients will present with longer term, more deep-rooted issues as a result of past trauma or difficult childhood experiences. My aim is to help each client explore what is troubling them and enable them to find a better way forward, working through the issues that are most important to them, without judgment or bias.
Practice description
I have counselling experience in both the NHS and charity sectors but now work solely in private practice, seeing individual clients aged 17 and above, both on a short-term and long-term basis. I work face-to-face, online and by phone. My standard fee is £70 but concessions can be offered in cases of genuine hardship, subject to availability.
I am a naturally empathic and compassionate person and I believe that building strong, collaborative therapeutic relationships with my clients is key to the success of our work together. I bring maturity, warmth and humour to my work, together with insight gained not only from a rigorous, Masters level training and many years of counselling experience, but also from my many years of personal therapy and a long working history in healthcare, including a spell in nursing. I have also taught counselling skills & theory up to level 4, and I regularly supervise trainee and qualified counsellors. I have worked with issues of religion, culture, ethnicity and sexuality, and with clients from all walks of life, through all stages of life. I am sensitive to issues of difference and strongly support equality, diversity and inclusion.
My first session
All new clients attend an initial assessment session, giving us the opportunity to meet one another, and enabling me to find out a little more about their reasons for seeking counselling at this point in time. The assessment session is charged at the standard session rate of £70. My rate for trainee therapists is £50. I offer concessions (subject to availability) for short-term work (up to 12 sessions). I am happy to have a brief chat over the phone or online to answer any initial questions prior to booking the assessment session.

My first session
I have supervisory experience in the educational and charity sectors as well as in private practice. I have been supervising trainee and qualified supervisors since 2019. I work face-to-face in Old Malden (KT3 6PW) and online, via Zoom. Concessions are available for trainee counsellors.

I was awarded an MA in Integrative Counselling & Psychotherapy with distinction in 2013. My initial training introduced me to the psychodynamic, humanistic and cognitive behavioural approaches and I have built on this foundation with certification training in Schema Therapy, EMDR, Attachment Based Therapy and Relational Supervision. I have taught counselling skills & theory up to level 4, and I regularly supervise level 4 trainee counsellors in a local further education college.
Through my 12 years of post-qualification counselling practice I have had the opportunity to work with people from all walks of life, through all stages of life, presenting with a broad range of difficulties. I am sensitive to issues of difference, I embrace diversity I am inclusive in my approach to life and work.
Counselling supervision helps to ensure that high professional standards are maintained. It gives counselling practitioners the opportunity to reflect in depth about their work with clients, and is also an important aspect of self-care. My aim is to provide a welcoming and non-judgmental environment for my supervisees, where they can feel safe enough to explore and reflect on all aspects of their work with clients.
