Practice description
YOUR JOURNEY:
This is your journey and, after an initial assessment we can start your journey together. I will do my best to walk with you step by step at your comfort level. We can stop any time although I do encourage a minimum of 20 sessions if possible to be able to give us the opportunity to delve and explore for a more cathartic, insightful, healing experience.
Let’s walk this journey together.
APPROACH:
Person-Centred Integrative Counselling Psychotherapist.
THERAPIST’S ‘TOOLBOX’:
‘Toolbox’ is a term used to describe a therapist’s collective bank of knowledge, experiences, resources, approaches and training that they have decided may be helpful approaches that may help, heal or assist another.
The tools in each therapists ‘toolbox’ may differ considerably as each therapist is a unique combination of their own personal experiences, training, belief systems, cultural upbringing, social experiences, familial experiences and so on.
Mine include the following:
* Counselling
* Psychotherapy
* Mindfulness
* Energy / Chakra Balancing
* Meditation
* Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
* I am fully Insured for these approaches.
SELF REFLECTION AND PROGRESS MONITORING:
Although not essential, if you feel comfortable with it I encourage some way of self reflection such as diary writing or art (kept in a safe place).
Another way we can see your journey unfold over the weeks is via a simple questionnaire called the ‘CORE System’ (Clinical Outcomes in Routine Evaluation). This helps us observe your personal evolution on our journey together.
Again, these are not essential but I find clients who do fill these in with me are sometimes very pleasantly surprised by what they see or realise over our weeks together.
At Tom Allan CrossReach the CORE System questionnaire they implement there is via touchscreen which you can do in our face to face sessions there.
With Online Zoom Sessions we can go through the paper format CORE questionnaire together in our online Zoom session together.
My first session
What can I expect from our first session?:
Our first session is simply to touch base. Get to know each other a little. Hear why you have come to me. See if we are compatible and to see if I feel I may be able to help you on your journey. If so what we may expect in future sessions and the approaches I have in my ‘toolbox’ and which ones may appeal to you.
How much and how long is a first session?
For Online Zoom Counselling sessions my initial first online Zoom session is free and takes 30 minutes to see if we are compatible and if I feel I may be able to help you on your journey.
For Face to face sessions at Tom Allan CrossReach Glasgow initial sessions are 60 minutes and, depending on what you chose with regards to donation (pay what you can) or fixed fee (£60), this is the price paid from the very first session.
