About me and my therapy practice
I am an experienced Â鶹Դ´ registered counsellor. I work face to face in a ground floor room, and online with Zoom or telephone counselling. All my work is with individual clients aged 18 years and over.
Everyone has a different starting point. Perhaps a significant change in your circumstances such as illness, bereavement or lack of financial security has highlighted a relationship issue within your family or friendship group which you want to explore. It might be historical or current and maybe feels unbalanced. If this is the reason you are considering counselling, then take a minute to read what I can offer you.
I will support you as you explore and come to understand previous experiences which may be influencing how you feel and behave in your present life. I can offer creative work as another way to express yourself and to stimulate this self exploration and discovery. Counselling, with me alongside, will give you a safe and non-judgmental space where you can explore what is on your mind in ways that would be difficult with loved ones who might get upset. I am a calm person and I will listen carefully to what you say but I will step in at times to ask questions or invite you to say a little more.
My practice includes clients who are living with a cancer diagnosis or are survivors. Some clients have suffered a bereavement or loss and others have come to build their self-confidence, and improve their mental health and sense of well-being which has suffered due to a previous difficult or abusive relationship.
if you want to find out more, then you can contact me to set up an initial session when you can talk about what you want to get out of counselling and also decide if I am offering what you are looking for. if you are happy to continue then we can set up a second session and arrange the details.
i have a standard fee, but I am also very happy to discuss and adjust this in the light of individual circumstances.
Practice description
Currently, I work with zoom, on the telephone, and face to face.
I qualified as a Person-Centred counsellor in 2013 and I am also trained to use Person-Centred creative skills as a practitioner member of APCCA (apcca.org.uk). If you find it hard to put thoughts and feelings into words I can offer this as an alternative way of working, if you want to. It is a very good way to get to understand yourself better. I also have a qualification in Understanding Autism and personal experience within my family
You may be disheartened because you can’t see a way through. If you feel strongly that you want to make changes because being so stuck is making you unhappy then within a safe listening relationship you will get the opportunity to talk about this and experience acceptance of your point of view, respect and support. This can restore your confidence, open your perspective and re-balance your ideas about who you are. You can learn to give yourself the time and attention needed for your personal fulfillment.
My first session
During my first session, which will be 30 minutes long, I will ask for some personal details and listen while you outline what has brought you to me. You probably know what you are looking for as regards a therapist and will need to ask me questions too. It is a time for you to weigh up whether to embark upon therapy with me. We can also talk about fees, and how often you want a session, so therefore this first session is free. Standard sessions will be 50 minutes.
