Novato, Calif.-based Fireman’s Fund is launching an Allianz Personal Auto Policy in 11 states, with plans to offer the coverage in more states by the end of 2010. The policy initially will be available in Arizona, Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois, Kansas, Maryland, Missouri, Ohio, Oregon, Tennessee and Texas.
Fireman’s Fund is a member of the Allianz Group, which insures more than 50 million autos worldwide. This new offering represents the first Allianz branded auto insurance in the United States.
“Naming the coverage Allianz Personal Auto Policy makes sense,” said Duke Daugherty, vice president, Personal Auto, Fireman’s Fund. “We want our agents and customers to know about the value that our parent company adds — it insures over 50 million cars worldwide and its research is unparalleled. Naturally, we’ll continue selling our high-net-worth products under the Fireman’s Fund brand.”
The Allianz Center for Technology (AZT) in Munich, an Allianz-owned and run technical research facility employing more than 200 engineers is one example of the parent company’s expertise. AZT conducts one crash test every week of the year, to aid in improving road safety. AZT makes recommendations to the public and industry peers, based on evidence generated by test series and studies, e.g. child car seats, head rests, airbags, safety belts.
By working with independent agents, Fireman’s Fund/Allianz says customers will be able to get a customized policy that fits their budget and reflects their decisions, driving record and other individual factors.
“We are committed to selling auto insurance through independent agents,” said Darryl Page, president, Personal Insurance, Fireman’s Fund. “Customers get the best experience when they can ask questions and discuss their needs with a professional independent agent. Agents often offer the same online access as direct writers combined with the trusted relationship that customers need and deserve.”
