We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Underwriter to join our dynamic team. As an Underwriter, you will play a critical role in assessing and analyzing insurance risks associated with commercial clients. Your expertise and judgment will be crucial in determining the appropriate coverage and premiums for each client, ensuring profitability for the company while maintaining excellent customer service.
Job Duties:
- Evaluate commercial lines insurance applications and associated documentation to determine risk levels and underwriting guidelines.
- Review policy terms and conditions, exclusions, and coverage limits to ensure they align with client requirements and company guidelines.
- Develop and maintain underwriting guidelines, policies, and procedures to ensure consistency and adherence to industry regulations.
- Analyze various risk factors such as financial statements, loss history, industry trends, and market conditions to assess the potential risk level of each applicant.
- Determine appropriate premiums based on risk analysis, underwriting guidelines, and company profitability objectives.
- Collaborate with brokers and agents to negotiate policy terms and conditions, adjusting as necessary to mitigate risk and meet client needs.
- Make informed decisions regarding policy acceptance, modifications, or rejections based on risk assessment and underwriting guidelines.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of underwriting decisions, assessments, and policy changes for auditing and compliance purposes.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, regulatory changes, and legal requirements to ensure compliance with underwriting standards and guidelines.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with brokers, agents, and clients, providing exceptional customer service and support throughout the underwriting process.
Requirements:
- Minimum 3-5 years of commercial lines Property and Liability underwriting experience required, excess & surplus experience preferred.
- Solid understanding of commercial insurance policies, underwriting guidelines, risk assessment methodologies, and relevant regulatory frameworks.
- Proven organization skills with strong attention to detail.
- Property and Casualty insurance license required.
